The Hunger Games

This is a futuristic book which is a bit pessimistic about how the future is going to be. The world is divided in 12 districts and ruled by Capitolium. Every year two teenagers from each district are forced to participate in the Hunger Games. They are all taken to the Arena and they have to fight for their lives, only the winner will survive. Everything is televised.
The book has lots of action and it is really intense.
Read it, you won't be able to put it down. (9Y)

Alone in the wide wide sea

This book tells the life of Arthur Hobhouse, who was taken to Australia like many other orphans after World War II. Some of them ended up working in farms and treated like animals, but he was lucky, got married and had children. After his death, his daughter sailed back to England to find his long lost sister.
